Verney’s Camp sits deep in Hwange National Park's south-east, on a wide open floodplain where the horizon feels distant and the wildlife is close. Set in a private concession beside Verney’s Pan, the camp is shaded by mopane and teak woodland and overlooks a waterhole that stays busy from first light to last.
With 10,000 hectares to roam, game drives cover exclusive concession ground as well as the greater park beyond. Hwange is famed for its large elephant herds, along with lion and buffalo, and the mix of habitat here keeps sightings varied through the year. Even downtime is immersive – animals are drawn to the pan, while the surrounding woodland provides shade and quiet between outings.
Canvas tents are spaced for privacy beneath the trees, raised on wooden decking and linked by natural pathways. Inside, you’ll find en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets, double vanities and hot showers – the comforts that count after a long day exploring the wilderness. Well-positioned and wonderfully remote, Verney’s is a true Hwange base, with the classic safari feel intact.
